Technical Support Overview

The Togo Flag Administration supports the appropriate reporting, investigation and follow-up of marine casualties and significant incidents involving Togo-flagged vessels. In line with applicable IMO instruments, the Administration determines investigation requirements, cooperates with other substantially interested States and reports through IMO/GISIS where applicable, with the aim of improving safety and preventing recurrence.

Marine casualty and incident investigation, reporting and follow-up activities of the Administration.

Casualty & Incident Reporting

Receipt, recording and initial assessment of marine casualties and significant incidents involving Togo-flagged vessels.

Investigation Requirement Assessment

Determination of whether a marine safety investigation is required, considering the nature, severity and circumstances of the casualty or incident.

Marine Safety Investigation

Coordination and conduct of marine safety investigations in accordance with the applicable IMO casualty investigation framework.

Cooperation with Interested States

Coordination with coastal States, port States and other substantially interested States where required during casualty investigations.

Findings, Safety Recommendations & Follow-Up

Assessment of causes and contributing factors, development of safety recommendations, and monitoring of appropriate follow-up actions.

IMO / GISIS Reporting

Submission of required casualty information, investigation reports and related notifications to IMO through GISIS, where applicable.

Reporting a Casualty or Incident

Shipowners and operators should notify the Flag Administration of any marine casualty or significant incident involving a Togo-flagged vessel as soon as possible. The Administration will determine the investigation requirements and coordinate with other substantially interested States as appropriate.

Reports and supporting information should be submitted through the ENSIGN Portal or directly to the technical team for follow-up.
